What should i do before my treatment?

It’s important to avoid sunbathing, using self-tanning lotions and discolouring the hair the days prior to treatment to avoid discolouring of the skin.

Any tanning of the skin can result in pigmentation in the areas you laser. If you are prone to nervousness, you should avoid caffeine for 24 hours before your session. On the day before your treatment, you should shave with a clean, new razor. By shaving, the lasers will be able to locate the follicles.

It’s important that when you speak to your laser professional that you inform them of all of the medications that you’re taking, both oral and topical. Some medications can intervene with your laser treatments, making them less effective. Other medications can make the skin sensitive and more likely to burn or blister. You should especially inform your laser technician if you are on antibiotics, birth control, acne, and photosensitising medications. You won’t have to stop taking your medication, but your laser professional will be able to adjust your treatment accordingly and proceed with caution. Additionally, if you begin taking any new medications you should be sure to let them know prior to your next appointment.

What should I do after my treatment?

From the moment treatment starts, avoid the use of tweezers, waxing, electrolysis or any other type of hair removal systems that remove hair by the root.

“What you do when you’re tweezing is damaging the hair follicle,” explains Sam. “Once we’ve destroyed the hair with the laser, that hair needs to naturally detach from the follicle. When you’re tweezing you can actually be stimulating the hair, which makes it worse and doesn’t give it a chance to detach.

How long does a treatment session take?

The duration depends on the size of the area to be treated. An upper lip can take just 30 seconds, underarms one minute and full legs can be done in as little as 10 minutes.
